with Extras and Collectable Packaging Launches with the Season One
Collector’s Box Set on April 1st, 2002.
Setting the stage for an entire year of STAR TREK: THE NEXT
GENERATION, Paramount Home Entertainment is proud to bring the
series to DVD for the first time. The Series will launch on April
1st with SEASON ONE, a seven-disc collector’s box set containing all
26 episodes from the first season, along with four newly created
documentaries exclusive to the DVD release. Each subsequent season
will be released on DVD at intervals of approximately two months
throughout the year.
Picking up decades after Captain Kirk and his original crew left
off, Emmy-winning STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION follows the
exciting adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) as
he leads an all new U.S.S Enterprise on adventurous missions into
deep space. The series also stars Jonathan Frakes as William T.
Riker, Le Var Burton as Geordi La Forge, Denise Crosby as Tasha Yar,
Michael Dorn as Wolf, Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher, Marina
Sirtis as Deanna Troi, Brent Spiner as Data and Wil Wheaton as
Wesley Crusher.

cornerstones of Paramount, so we have lavished a lot of attention on
these NEXT GENERATION season box sets," said Eric Doctorow,

design containing all seven seasons."

Each season of the STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION DVDs is presented
in a sleek, innovatively packaged and highly collectable box set,
embossed and printed with a brushed-metal-like finish. An enclosed
digipak holds all seven discs in place, along with a pull-out
booklet of episode information, plus a panoramic montage of the crew.
Moving forward, each season of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION will
be released as a box set to create an attractive library of the
series to appeal to the Star Trek and DVD collector alike.
Season-specific metallic inks differentiate the seven seasons for
retailers and consumers.
The DVD of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION : SEASON ONE is presented
in a full frame version and the audio is presented in Dolby Digital
5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo. The DVDs are sub-titled in English
and closed-captioned for the hearing impaired.
The DVD of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION : SEASON ONE will be
available to own at an RRP of £84.99. Each disc has a running time
of approximately 176 minutes, with the exception of disc seven,
which has 88 minutes of feature and approximately 60 minutes of
special features. All seven discs are encoded with Macrovision
AntiCopy process.

- The Beginning: focusing on the challenges of creating a
new series and keeping to Gene Roddenberry's vision. Includes
interviews with Roddenberry, Patrick Stewart, Robert Justman
(former producer of the Original Series), Rick Berman (Co-Executive
Producer at the time), Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Denise
Crosby and other cast members.
- Selected Crew Analysis: features first season cast
members talking about their roles, their acting backgrounds prior
to being cast and their impressions of the Star Trek legacy. Also
features a comparison between the launch of the series in 1987 and
the comments from the cast seven years later (1994), using archive
interviews and b-roll to present a fascinating ‘before' and
‘after' look from the series cast members.
- The Making of a Legend: features commentary from the
first season production staff members: Michael Westmore (Make-up),
Herman Zimmerman (Production Designer), Mike Okuda (Scenic
Artist), Richard Stembach (Scenic Artist), Dan Curry (Visual
Effects), Peter Lauritson (Co-Producer), Rick Berman and others,
as they discuss the making of the new series. Uncovers information
on how the beaming effect is achieved, Worf's make up process and
how much time and effort goes into creating each episode.
- Memorable Missions: cast and crew discussions of
specific episodes and events that occurred during the first season.
